🚗 Latest DVSA Driving Lesson & Test Updates – June 2025
1. Extended Cancellation Notice:
Effective from April 8, 2025, learners must provide 10 full working days’ notice to cancel or reschedule a car driving test without forfeiting the fee.
2. Increased Vehicle Weight Limit for Category B Licence Holders:
As of June 10, 2025, drivers with a standard Category B licence can operate zero-emission vehicles (electric or hydrogen-powered) with a maximum authorised mass (MAM) of up to 4,250kg, an increase from the previous 3,500kg limit.
3. Driving Test Pilot Program:
Starting May 6, 2025, the DVSA initiated a pilot program at select test centres across the UK. Key changes include:

Increased exposure to higher-speed roads during tests.

Enhanced focus on independent driving using sat navs.

Inclusion of realistic driving scenarios to better assess candidates' readiness.
4. Recruitment of Additional Driving Examiners:
To address the backlog of driving tests, the DVSA is recruiting and training 450 new driving examiners across Great Britain, aiming to reduce waiting times to seven weeks by December 2025.
