August Driving Rule Changes Every Learner Should Know

1. Tougher Penalties for Mobile Phone Use

Starting this month, fines for using a mobile phone while driving have increased significantly and are now income-based. Repeat offenders could face penalties equivalent to a full week’s salary.

2. Mandatory Medical Check for Drivers Aged 70+

As of August 1, all drivers aged 70 or older must complete a medical evaluation before renewing their licence, replacing the old self-declaration method.
